Harris stated emphatically, “My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” highlighting her intention to bring new viewpoints and ideas to the White House. She identified herself as a “new generation” leader, attempting to distance her campaign from President Biden’s legacy.

During her heated exchange with Fox anchor Bret Baier, Harris was challenged on a number of difficult issues, including immigration, where she adopted a hardline stance. She restated her opposition to decriminalizing border crossings, rejecting charges that her immigration policies are too mild.

On foreign policy, Harris described Iran as the greatest threat to US security and expressed strong support for US weaponry sales to Israel. This is Harris’s first formal interview with Fox News during the 2024 election cycle, and it demonstrates her efforts to appeal to more centrist voters while clarifying her positions on crucial topics.

With the election just weeks away, Harris’s explicit determination to distance herself from Biden is considered as a smart effort to answer concerns about continuity from the present government and set her ideas apart as a presidential candidate (sources 6 and 7).
