That\u2019s one hell of a long goodbye. Of course, they\u2019ve put out three albums since then and gone on more tours, so it would seem that long goodbye wasn\u2019t much of a goodbye.<\/span><\/h1>\n<div class=\"post-body\" data-content-ads-inserted=\"true\" data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">\n<div class=\"mv-ad-box\" data-slotid=\"content_btf\">\n<div class=\"mv-rail-frame-440\" data-slotid=\"content_btf\">\n<div class=\"mv-rail-slide-440\" data-slotid=\"content_btf\">\n<div class=\"mv-rail-sticky-440\" data-slotid=\"content_btf\">\n<div id=\"content_btf_wrapper\" class=\"adunitwrapper content_btf_wrapper\" data-wrapper=\"content_btf\" data-nosnippet=\"\">\n<div id=\"content_btf\" class=\"content_btf adunit up-show\" data-google-query-id=\"CLndmIG2nokDFZhIHQkdl8Y6eQ\">\n<div class=\"default-creative-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/static.btloader.com\/safeFrame.html?upapi=true\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"upo-label\">AD<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan, the long goodbye was more of a long joke and there\u2019s no plans for slowing down anytime soon. In a recent appearance on\u00a0<em>Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk<\/em>\u00a0(transcribed by\u00a0<em>Blabbermouth<\/em>), Gillan talked about the misnamed tour:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI think it is. That was a joke, actually, because it was the promoters. And someone said, \u2018We\u2019ve gotta sell some more tickets.\u2019 And it\u2019s the good old standby, the farewell tour. So I said, Okay, we\u2019ll call it \u2018goodbye\u2019 tour, but let\u2019s call it \u2018the long goodbye\u2019, and let\u2019s make the emphasis on the word \u2018long\u2019,\u2019 so it\u2019s kind of an enigmatic phrase.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He then continued on about the plans for the future of Deep Purple:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThere\u2019s no intention to stop. At the moment\u2026 I spoke to my manager the other day. I\u2019ve got some solo project. He said, \u2018You\u2019re gonna have to put \u2019em back,\u2019 and I\u2019m putting them back years. We\u2019re already booked to the end of \u201926, in the planning stage, in the diary, with all the projects we\u2019ve got for DEEP PURPLE. So, yeah, years to come, hopefully.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">So there\u2019s going to be plenty of touring over the next few years.
