Over the course of the past 30 seasons, 44 teams have finished in the top three of both yards allowed and points allowed. This information was brought to light by Kevin Patra of NFL.com on Twitter\/X earlier this week. Of those clubs, all 44 made the NFL playoffs and 19 of them made it at least to the conference championship game.<\/p>\n

Vance Joseph\u2019s unit surely has the squad on track to make some noise down the stretch.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re playing great,\u201d Broncos quarterback Bo Nix said of Denver\u2019s defense. \u201cThey\u2019re having a great year. They get us the ball back in a timely manner. They stop the offense. They keep it relatively low scoring. We have been good at various periods, and we haven\u2019t at times on offense to match that. At the same time, they\u2019re going to continue to play that way. We just have to continue to trust on them and know that they\u2019re going to make plays. Then we kind of have to pick it up and match it when they do. We have to assist them out and be there for them. They\u2019ve done a terrific job all year.\u201d

\nAfter sacking Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins three times on Sunday, the Broncos currently rank first in the NFL with 39 sacks this season. Perhaps even more amazing was the team stopping Falcons standout running back Bijan Robinson to just 35 rushing yards on 12 carries.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s explosive,\u201d coach Sean Payton said of Robinson. \u201cTheir wide-zone scheme, they do a great job with him. If that gets going, then everything else falls in place for the quarterback. We believed like the fundamental key to winning this game was as the game finished, who won the rushing fight. We know that they were a good rushing team, but they\u2019re a hard team to beat if you don\u2019t have an answer for him. He\u2019s an incredibly talented player. They do a wonderful job by design. That was incredibly important.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denver remains on pace to enter the NFL playoffs, and if the defense continues playing at this level, the Broncos might make some noise in the postseason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
