The conversation around the use of AI in music has been quite divisive over the past few years, but some artists are more comfortable than others at choosing to embrace the new reality. The guys in The Offspring fall into this category.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview, singer Bryan \u201cDexter\u201d Holland and guitarist Kevin \u201cNoodles\u201d Wasserman addressed the notion of artificial intelligence in music, saying they would \u201cmaybe\u201d utilize it in their own song production \u201cto change a sound,\u201d if need be.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think [AI] is here to stay,\u201d Holland told France\u2019s O\u00fci FM, as transcribed by\u00a0Blabbermouth<\/em>. \u201cI understand that it\u2019s very confusing and scary. And it gives people anxiety. And the technology of it\u2019s getting better where you [go], \u2018Is that person really saying what I think they\u2019re saying or is that just a projection or something that\u2019s not real?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that stuff we\u2019re all gonna have to sort through, but I think it is here to stay,\u201d Holland continued. \u201cAnd I think it will end up being like other kinds of technology where people can use it for good or they can use it for evil, and we\u2019re gonna have to sort that out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holland was then asked if he thinks The Offspring would ever utilize AI in their own music or during a concert, to which he laughingly replied, \u201cOooh. Maybe I don\u2019t have to be there. I could be at home watching TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

Offering his thoughts on the matter, Noodles said, \u201cWell, if we did, we would only use it to change a sound, which really\u2026 I mean, we have different guitar sounds, chorus pedals, things like that, that change the sound of things. So I think it would just be for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd in that regard, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a bad thing,\u201d Noodles continued. \u201cWhen kids are using it to write term papers or bands are using it to try to write their own music\u2026 First of all, I think it\u2019s gonna fall flat. I don\u2019t think you\u2019re gonna do well with that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love what Joe Walsh of JAMES GANG and THE EAGLES said about it,\u201d Noodles went on to add. \u201cHe said he\u2019s not worried about AI. AI can\u2019t throw a television set out of a hotel window. AI is not getting laid.
