Former Bulgarian national coach Plamen Markov appeared on the podcast “Code Sport ” where he revealed how he was fired over the phone during his last stint at the helm of the “lions”. Markov , who was the last coach to lead the “tricolors” to a major football forum – the European Championship in Portugal in 2004, was fired after a 1:6 loss to Serbia in a friendly match.
He broke his silence for the first time about the situation in which former BFU president Borislav Mihaylov informed him of the decision. Markov also returned to Bulgaria ‘s participation in Euro 2004, admitting that he had considered resigning from the coaching post even before the finals of the European Championship.
