Rafael Nadal, 38, announced his retirement from tennis after competing in the Davis Cup, capping a spectacular career that included 22 Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals.
However, Spanish tennis continues to thrive thanks to Carlos Alcaraz, who won his maiden Roland Garros this year and defeated the renowned Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, in addition to winning the China Open.
