Along with his signature Strats, he also admitted to using a Gibson ES-335 for the solos on Dark and Velvet Nights. He confessed that he didn’t have “a huge history with Gibson guitars” and that the new instrument was “a very, very different sort of guitar to what I’m used to,” but otherwise continued to play Strats.
Meanwhile, the guitarist appeared as a guest on Body Count’s version of Comfortably Numb, nipping at the strings like a background track the entire time—possibly the most unexpected crossover of 2024.
Frontman Ice-T approached Gilmour first, asking for permission to use the song, but Gilmour ended up agreeing to play on it instead.
“The new lyrics are great; they reflect the terrifying reality of our current situation,” he thought afterwards.
