Barry, along with his brothers Robin and Maurice, formed the Bee Gees and achieved fame with hits like “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” and “You Should Be Dancing” before becoming famous for their soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever.
Barry and Linda had their first son, Stephen, in 1973, followed by Ashley four years later, Travis in 1981, and Michael three years later.
The Bee Gees were entangled in record business conflicts in the 1980s, which prevented them from releasing albums for eight years, but Barry said that the hiatus was beneficial.
“They were the happiest years of our lives because we were raising our kids,” he told me. “We were writing and producing songs for other people, which didn’t take up 100 percent of our time.”
Now a solo musician, Barry frequently collaborates with his sons Stephen and Ashley on new music. Here is everything you should know about Barry Gibb’s five children.
Linda and Barry welcomed Stephen, their first son, on December 1, 1973. Their oldest began playing guitar at the age of 13 and has since performed with metal bands 58 and Black Label Society.
In 2013, Stephen, also known as Steve, accompanied his father on his Mythology Tour in Australia and New Zealand, along with Maurice’s daughter Samantha. Barry described the experience as a thrill, saying, “It’s a thrill to look left and see Sami and to look to my right and see my eldest son, and they are both fantastic.”
In 2016, Stephen and his brother Ashley co-wrote their father’s album In the Now.
On September 1, 2020, Barry’s eldest son posted a photo on Instagram of his parents on their wedding day. “Happy 50th Anniversary to these two crazy kids and happy 74th birthday @officialbarrygibb,” he wrote in the caption.
“You both continue to inspire and motivate me to be a better man. I could not love you more.” Stephen has been married to Gloria Levas since 2002, and they have two children: Angus and Nina Gibb.
