Houston Texans
Out: LB. Azeez Al-Shaair, RB Dameon Pierce, S Jimmie Ward, and OL Jarrett Patterson.
Questionable: N/A
Active: LB. Henry To’oTo’o, S Calen Bullock, and CB Kamari Lassiter.
Takeaway: The Texans’ injury report is significantly more favourable than New York’s. The loss of Al-Shaair and Ward hurts their defence, but having To’oTo’o, Lassiter, and Bullock in the lineup bodes well against a struggling Jets offence.
Dameon Pierce has been the Texans’ second-leading rusher this season, trailing only Joe Mixon. Dare Ogunbowale will take over that role tonight, but with Mixon’s output (503 yards and five touchdowns in five games), the Texans don’t need their backup to produce eye-popping statistics.
New York Jets
Out: WR Allen Lazard, LB C.J. Mosley, OL Alijah Vera-Tucker, S Tony Adams, S Ashtyn Davis, and DT Leki Fotu.
Questionable: LB. Chazz Surratt, offensive lineman Morgan Moses, and tight end Kenny Yeboah.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, DL Quinnen Williams, DL Haason Reddick, DL Will McDonald IV, and LB Jamien Sherwood, CB Michael Carter II and OL Jake Hanson.
Takeaways: Good news: Aaron Rodgers, Quinnen Williams, and Haason Reddick will all be active. The bad news is that six players are out, and three are uncertain.
Lazard, who played with Rodgers in Green Bay, has served as a safety net for the 40-year-old quarterback, collecting 30 receptions for 412 yards and five touchdowns thus far. Additionally, Alijah Vera-Tucker is one of the Jets’ starting offensive lineman. If both he and Morgan Moses miss Thursday’s game, the Jets offence will struggle to improve on its performance against the Texans.
The Jets’ defensive starters, C.J. Mosley, Tony Adams, and Ashtyn Davis, are out. Adams and Davis play on the NFL’s top-ranked secondary heading into the 2024 season, according to Pro Football Focus.
