Liam Everts suffered a serious crash after colliding with fellow countryman Lucas Coenen in Moto 2 at the MXGP of China over the weekend. KTM said in a press release on Monday morning that Everts had successful surgery to fix a damaged C5 vertebra. KTM noted that the third-generation rider is likely to recover completely, and Coenen apologized profusely after the race. However, with Everts out for the rest of the season, he has been replaced on Team Belgium’s Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations lineup. Yamaha’s Jago Geerts will now race in the Open class alongside the Coenen brothers, Lucas and Sacha.

The following press release comes from Infront Moto Racing:
Team Belgium has announced the three riders who will represent Belgium in the 2024 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, which will take held in Matterley Basin, United Kingdom, on October 4th, 5th, and 6th.
After Liam Everts received an injury during The Oriental Beauty Valley MXGP of China and will be unable to compete for Team Belgium this year, Jago Geerts will ride his factory Monster Energy Yamaha YZ450F in the Belgian colors.
Updated Team Belgium lineup includes Lucas Coenen (MXGP), Jago Geerts (Open), and Sacha Coenen (MX2).
