Valentin Rongier is the latest Olympique Marseille player to urge the team to sign former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Pogba is presently a free agent after leaving Juventus in November and has been heavily linked with a move to Marseille.
And Rongier, according to Foot Mercato, has fueled rumors that the 31-year-old may join him at the Orange Vélodrome. He stated, “We know Pogba’s quality, and signing him for OM one day would be beneficial.
Rongier, who has nine appearances for Marseille this season, is not the first member of Roberto de Zerbi’s side to praise the World Cup winner’s signing with the Phocaeans.
Adrien Rabiot, a former United target who joined Marseille in September, spoke up on the matter during his team’s 2-0 victory against St Etienne last week.
According to Foot Mercato, he told reporters: “I’d like to play with Paul; we had the opportunity to rub shoulders at Juve, but we didn’t play much together because he had physical problems.”
He went further: “We greatly invite him to come to Marseille, what we are putting in place is very big, there is ambition with the coach, the management.”
On Friday, Pogba posted a number of cryptic emojis on his Instagram profile, including a stopwatch, a zipped lips, and a winking face, implying that his future is almost decided.
Pogba’s four-year doping penalty was shortened earlier this year to 18 months, allowing him to return to training in January 2025 and play in March.
Rumours have circulated since this announcement on where the midfielder will continue his career.
The player was rumored to be in talks to train with the United squad at Carrington, but these rumors were denied last month, with the Frenchman instead working on his conditioning in Miami.
After leaving United for free in 2012 as a hot prospect, Pogba shined at Juventus, establishing himself as one of the world’s top midfielders.
His performances were strong enough that United spent a record-breaking £89 million to bring him back to Old Trafford.
Pogba’s second spell at the club revealed hints of his talent, although he frequently pretended to be better than he was. In 226 games, he scored 39 goals and assisted 48 times before leaving for Juventus on a free transfer.
