According to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, Newcastle United stalled talks for Alexander Isak last summer by demanding a £150 million cost for the player, which immediately scared off Chelsea.

Edwards adds that Newcastle has no intention of lowering that price in the coming transfer windows, and they may instead attempt to extend the striker’s contract.
Contract talks were postponed earlier in 2024, but Newcastle intends to resume them at some point. Isak is already under contract till 2028.
According to Edwards, Arsenal would struggle to raise the funds required to begin talks with Isak, and Newcastle sources indicate the club has no interest in selling.

Those sources are apparently outraged by all the exit chatter, claiming it’s ‘disrespectful’ to suggest he needs to leave Newcastle and that the rumours are ‘intended to disrupt the player’.

The apparent counter-argument is that all of the clubs affiliated with Isak are above Newcastle in the rankings and compete in European competitions. A move to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid, or any of the other associated clubs would be a significant step forward for the player.
However, you can perfectly understand why Newcastle will take this attitude. Isak has 12 goals and four assists in 19 appearances this season, 15 of which came in his 16 Premier League outings.
Newcastle have been inconsistent this season, but Isak is one of the players who has consistently raised his game. There is no reason why they would want him to go at this point.
