Rangers didn’t quite manage to complete the sort of rebuild that was hoped for in the summer with Philippe Clement having to battle with budget constraints.
Signings like Jefte and Connor Barron have looked positive, however, the addition of Vaclav Cerny to the squad has been the signing of the summer.
The Czechia winger maybe plays on the other side to what Abdallah Sima did last year, but his impact for Rangers hasn’t been any less with the Light Blues boss explaining why they aren’t playing together.
Philippe Clement makes Abdallah Sima to Rangers claim
Calls for Cerny to be signed on a permanent deal are growing louder by the week with the manager being asked if he is fearful of a repeat of the summer when they couldn’t quite complete a transfer for Sima:
“It’s something we need for the moment because we don’t have the money to buy Vaclav for the moment now or we didn’t have the money to buy Abdallah at that moment,” Clement said about taking players on loan.
“We need to see and we need to try every year to have one player less on loan and one player more that’s an asset for the club because we’re going to have a similar situation at the end of the season in that way and Abdallah wanted to stay here, loved to stay here, but of course other teams are also interested and in one moment he chooses also for his career, for his wages, for everything.”
Could Rangers have had both Sima and Cerny?
Frustratingly, Rangers have spent the sort of money needed to have had Sima and Cerny together in the same team but years of waste has made it impossible, for now.
