The Jan Breydel Stadium outfit triggered the winger’s €12 million release clause to beat out heavy competition across Europe, including Portuguese giants Benfica.

Virgili spent the 2025–26 season with RCD Mallorca in La Liga after departing FC Barcelona’s La Masia youth setup in August 2025. Despite Mallorca’s eventual relegation to the Segunda División, the young winger enjoyed a standout breakthrough campaign, making 19 starts and leading the club in completed dribbles. Following Mallorca’s drop down the Spanish football pyramid, his release clause dropped from €30 million to €12 million, prompting Club Brugge to step up decisively and land his signature.

The transfer also yields a massive financial windfall for FC Barcelona. When Barcelona negotiated Virgili’s initial sale to Mallorca in 2025, the Catalan club retained a 40% sell-on clause alongside a right of first refusal. While Barcelona briefly considered bringing the Spanish youth prospect back to the Camp Nou to bolster their attacking depth, Club Brugge moved quickly to seal the deal. Consequently, Barcelona will receive roughly €4.8 million from the total transfer fee, giving their summer balance sheet a significant boost.

For Club Brugge, signing one of Spain’s most technical young attackers highlights their growing status as a premier destination for elite European talent. Virgili brings directness, flair, and top-tier dribbling ability to the Belgian champions as they look to defend their domestic league title and make a strong run in the UEFA Champions League.

Virgili has officially joined the squad and made his debut for Blauw-Zwart, coming off the bench during their 3–0 Belgian Pro League victory against Oud-Heverlee Leuven. He is expected to form an exciting attack alongside fellow young talents like Nicolò Tresoldi, Carlos Forbs, and Mamadou Diakhon.
