The weather presenter for Good Morning Britain, Laura Tobin, left viewers awestruck with her eternally youthful appearance as she celebrated an important milestone birthday live on the show.
On Thursday’s programme, presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls paused to mark Laura’s big day, revealing she had just turned 43.
Ed Balls, aged 57, enthusiastically stepped up, presenting a custom-made weather-themed birthday cake for Laura on air, prompting visible delight from the birthday girl who cheerfully said: “I feel like I don’t want to eat it but I obviously will! I actually had to count on my fingers and figure out what year it is and what year I was born to figure out I’m 43 today! ” She received an outpouring of compliments from her colleagues who insisted she looked “fantastic”.
Overflowing with joy, Laura chimed in: “Thank you and happy birthday to my brother as well! ” to which Susanna warmly replied with: “Lovely stuff, happy birthday Laura! “, according to a report by the Mirror.
Fans were amazed at Laura’s youthful looks, with many taking to Twitter, now dubbed X, to share their astonishment.
A fan remarked: “It wouldn’t have surprised me if it was Laura’s 33rd birthday. She looks younger than me and I’m 40. Happy birthday! #gmb”, while another tweeted: “@Lauratobin1 You look 23 not 43. Happy birthday! “, and yet another posted: “Wow, can’t believe @Lauratobin1 is 43! Happy Birthday to my fave weather person” and an additional user commented: “Happy Birthday Laura, no way you’re 43. More like 33! “, reports the Express.
As Laura candidly discusses her ambitions beyond the programme, it’s evident she treasures her tenure at A Place in the Sun but also eyes other potential TV ventures.
The prominent face of ITV’s Good Morning Britain since 2014, the weather presenter voiced an unwavering affinity for her current gig while voicing aspirations to diversify her TV portfolio. She enthusiastically stated: “I love it! I mean, I get to tell people the weather every day, and then I have like a little segment every day where I can talk about something else.”
Her segments on the show are varied, spanning from regular climate updates to more extraordinary happenings such as the Aurora Borealis or significant rainfall events globally, which she finds exhilarating. “Whether it’s like a climate report, whether it’s the Northern Lights, whether it’s extreme rainfall around the world – for me, weather forecasting is my first love – it’s my bread and butter, it’s what I do.”

Laura takes pleasure in infusing her weather presentations with enlightening facts, aiming to make mornings more informative and interesting for viewers. “If I can, like, jot in all of these extra bits, you know, sprinkles of science while people are having their breakfast that make it interesting – it’s a dream scenario.”
Eager to anchor more shows centred on environmental themes, she has already worked alongside the Tonight Team on initiatives encouraging dietary changes to tackle climate change.
“I’d love to do more shows talking about climate change. I’ve done some stuff with the Tonight Team looking at the multi-benefits if you want to change your diet – one thing people can do to reduce the impact of climate change is reducing food waste! “.
