Arizona State had a fantastic second season under Kenny Dillingham, winning the Big 12, getting a bye to the College Football Playoff, and nearly defeating powerhouse Texas in a 39-31 double overtime thriller.
Not bad for a program that was expected to finish worst in the league in the preseason.
The Sun Devils proved they were serious this fall, and with Heisman finalist quarterback Sam Leavitt committed and returning next season, Dillingham and his staff hope to build on their success and go even further in 2025.
They’re not stopping there.
To have a consistent program over time, you can only be as good as the player under center. As a redshirt freshman, Leavitt established himself as one of the finest in the country.
Dillingham, a proud Arizona State alum, and company also have a person down the road.
College coaches are buzzing about El Paso (Texas) Del Valle High quarterback Jake Fette, who has committed to Arizona State in 2026. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Fette has been committed to the Sun Devils since September, long before Leavitt exploded and took the sport by storm. He has all of the talent to keep ASU rolling at center.
As a junior, Fette wreaked havoc on defenses as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, throwing for 2,488 yards and 31 touchdowns to one interception while also running for 589 yards and 11 scores in an 11-1 season.
Fetty has lately had offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, and Auburn, but he is most thrilled about his future with Dillingham at Arizona State.
“You know being committed to ASU right now is a big-time thing,” Fette informed the crowd. “After such a successful season, all I can think about is how I can make an effect at the school when I arrive.
“Coach Dilly and the guys up there did a tremendous job this year and it just leads me to be more and more excited to be a Sun Devil.”
Fette has a good working relationship with offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo and Dillingham, and he admires how they get the most out of their players.
“Really mainly the culture they base their program around,” according to Fette. “They do not care how many stars or followers you have. “They’re just looking for someone who enjoys the game and wants to play.”
On3 adores Fette, placing him first in the industry. We rank him as the No. 5 quarterback and the No. 55 prospect overall. On3 Industry ranks him as No. 9 and No. 120, respectively.
Aside from the institutions mentioned, Fette has offers from Baylor, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas, and California. He is one of four players committed to the Sun Devils for the 2026 class.
