Ange Postecoglou has just experienced one of his most grueling weeks as Tottenham manager. The fact that there is so much competition from this season alone is not good news.
His team is currently out of both domestic cups. In just four days, the team’s hopes have collapsed in front of an already enraged and agitated fan base.
After being demolished by Liverpool in a poor away performance on Thursday night, it was a similar state of affairs for much of Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round match with Liverpool.
The ease with which Villa stormed through to open the scoring just two minutes had Postecoglou holding his head in his hands, a familiar pose and story. He is presently under intense scrutiny for his position in command.
Tottenham have backed Postecoglou thus far, so pulling the plug now makes no sense. If they do, there is a strong argument that the past week was completely wasted. If they wanted to make a change, they should do it before the four-day period with two major cup matches.
