LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – After taking an official visit to the University of Kentucky last week, Lamar Wilkerson, a standout transfer from Sam Houston State, has made his decision — and he’s heading to Bloomington. Wilkerson announced that he will continue his college basketball career with the Indiana Hoosiers, turning down the offer from Kentucky.
Wilkerson had reportedly narrowed his choices down to Kentucky and Indiana, taking official visits to both programs. He visited Lexington last weekend, where he met with head coach Mark Pope and the new Kentucky coaching staff.
Despite the push from Kentucky, Wilkerson ultimately opted for the stability and vision presented by Mike Woodson and the Indiana program. With the Hoosiers aiming to bounce back in a competitive Big Ten, Wilkerson is expected to play a key role as a veteran presence on the perimeter.
While Kentucky misses out on Wilkerson, the Wildcats remain active in the transfer portal, with several more targets on their radar as Coach Pope looks to reshape the roster ahead of the 2024–25 season.
