When asked what makes for a great night on stage, Ingram kept it straightforward
“We like to take our listeners on a journey,” Ingram told The Daily Progress. “When the crowd is really receiving it well, we try to take the listeners on a journey.”
“Live in London” captured “the show as it is, top to bottom,” said Ingram, who spoke shortly after returning home from a high-energy South American tour.
“It was wonderful. We had a packed house everywhere,” he said. “Rio was great.”
All three of Ingram’s albums to date — “Kingfish,” “662” and “Live from London,” all on Alligator Records — were nominated for Grammy Awards, and “662” took home the Grammy for best contemporary blues album. Two songs on the live album, “Midnight Heat” and “Mississippi Night,” were new originals, and others were fan favorites from his previous albums, including “She Calls Me Kingfish,” “Hard Times,” “662” and “Long Distance Woman.”
“If you listen to those same songs on the studio albums, they’re contained, arranged,” Ingram said. Fans can expect a different kind of energy in person.
Ingram picked up honors for male artist of the year and album of the year for “Live in London” from the most recent Blues Music Awards, bringing his haul of Blues Music Awards to 13. Living Blues Magazine named Ingram its 2024 Blues Artist of the Year (Male) not only in its critic poll, but also in its reader poll.
