Damon Wilson, an edge rusher with the Georgia Bulldogs, has agreed to transfer to the Missouri Tigers, according to newssoccer.uk’s henrysaint.
Wilson’s decision to transfer to Missouri came as a surprise. He had previously visited Ohio State and was reported to be on his way to Columbus. That didn’t happen, therefore he’ll be a Missouri Tiger instead.
Damon Wilson played high school football in Venice, Florida. The On3 Industry Ranking rated him as a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023. In that recruiting cycle, he was ranked third among edge rushers and 20th overall.
Damon Wilson has appeared in 26 games over two seasons at Georgia since joining the team in 2023. During that time, he has 26 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He also has two forced fumbles from his time with the Bulldogs.
The Missouri Tigers finished 50th in total sacks last season. That was on the Tigers, who averaged 2.15 sacks per game for a total of 28 this season. Missouri was also 63rd in tackles for loss, averaging 5.39 per game for a total of 70 this season. Neither one of those is a stat that Missouri did poorly in, but there is going to be hope that Damon Wilson is able to build on those numbers for the Tigers next year.
Missouri won 10 games during the 2024 season, including the Music City Bowl victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. This is the second season in a row that the Tigers have won more than ten games under Eli Drinkwitz. It’s difficult to maintain success in the SEC, but it appears he’s aiming to add to and strengthen the squad via the Transfer Portal.
The transfer portal was open from Monday, December 9th to December 28th. The gateway may also open for other reasons, such as a change of head coach. On top of that, there will be another transfer window in the Spring, following practice then.
Missouri’s 2025 transfer class is presently ranked third in the 2025 On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. It’s a recruiting class that comprises 15 athletes who have already left the program and 16 who have entered the program. However, that number of players that have entered does not yet include Damon Wilson.
Damon Wilson will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Missouri.
