34-year-old Bulgarian footballer Martin Dechev tragically passed away during a charity match dedicated to the anniversary of the “Ballon d’Or” award to Hristo Stoichkov.
According to information published on the official website of the CSKA Sofia football club, Dechev suddenly fell ill during the match and collapsed on the pitch. Medics immediately began administering emergency assistance, but unfortunately, they were forced to declare death.
Throughout his career, Martin Dechev played for CSKA Sofia, Ludogorets, and Slavia Sofia. He also represented several lower league clubs in Bulgaria. He ended his football career in 2016 due to injury.
In 2017, Dechev began his coaching career, working with the youth teams of CSKA Sofia. He coached various age groups, leaving a significant mark in his work with young footballers
