JUST IN: Netflix Is Helping Nickelback Return To The Charts

Throughout the past several decades, Nickelback has scored some of the biggest rock hits in America. The band has produced plenty of smashes, and several of their most popular tunes are back on the charts this week. The songs’ returns aren’t random, as they’ve actually been facilitated by Netflix.

Nickelback’s documentary, Hate To Love: Nickelback, was recently uploaded to the streaming platform. The film enjoyed a theatrical run earlier this year, and now it’s available to subscribers in the U.S. The arrival of the movie has renewed interest in the rockers’ catalog, and they can be found on more than half a dozen of Billboard’s songs charts this week.

Five of Nickelback’s hits find their way back to various tallies. Some return to just one, while others not only reappear on a handful, but even manage to debut on lists, decades after their initial release. The effect of the documentary is easily visible, and altogether pretty impressive.

“How You Remind Me” benefits the most from the arrival of Nickelback’s film. The smash that turned them into household names all around the world appears on nine different Billboard charts this week.

The former Hot 100 champion returns to three lists this frame. It also rises on two of the hard rock-specific rosters, where it’s been charting for years. The tune manages to reach four rankings for the first time, which is impressive, considering how popular the cut has been for so long.

The next-most-successful tune from Nickelback this week in America is “Rockstar.” That single lands on four Billboard tallies this frame, though it’s not new to any of them. “Rockstar” does manage to rise to its previously-set high on both the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Streaming Songs lists this time around.

“Photograph” is the only other Nickelback single that makes space on more than one chart this frame. The smash sold well enough to force itself onto a trio of sales-only rankings in the U.S. It doesn’t debut on any of them, though, as it’s already spent time on all three.

Two other tunes by Nickelback also hit just one chart each. “Someday” debuts at No. 8 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales ranking. It marks the Canadian band’s eighteenth top 10 on the tally. Just one rung lower, “Savin’ Me” reappears at No. 9–just one slot lower than its high point.
