Santa Clara — Neither Kyle Shanahan nor Nick Bosa has ever defeated Patrick Mahomes. Bosa is 0-3 against him, while Shanahan is 0-4.So I asked them on Wednesday why Mahomes is the best. I figured those two should know. This is what they stated.
ME: The data show that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is experiencing a subpar season by his standards.
What do you perceive from him in particular? SHANAHAN: “I believe everyone says down year because their numbers aren’t insane, but Pat is as excellent as it gets. He has been as excellent as it gets since his first year of playing.

ME: What distinguishes Patrick Mahomes as the top quarterback in the league?
BOSA: “His arm strength.” He can get the ball vast distances very quickly, so you don’t need much separation. Then, when he develops plays, he likes to pump fake players and make them miss, allowing him to run for first downs when necessary.
His running skill is underappreciated. He’s strong, so he’s difficult to take down, and he makes sound decisions.” MY PERSPECTIVE ON THEIR OPINIONS: It’s intriguing that Shanahan brought up Mahomes’ brilliance at the end of close games.
Shanahan recently faced criticism for winning only 37.8 percent of one-score games as a head coach. I believe he would blame his quarterbacks for that number.
Furthermore, it’s intriguing that the first thing Bosa liked about Mahomes was his Brock Purdy lacks arm strength.
