It’s the dead period in college football currently, but that doesn’t mean that minor transfer portal news won’t pop up from time to time.
That was the case for the Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday, as sophomore wide receiver Grady O’Neill announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, moving on after two seasons in Madison.
“After thoughtful consideration, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with 2-3 years of eligibility remaining,” O’Neill wrote. “I would like to thank my family for always believing in me, as well as all my coaches and teammates who have helped me grow as a player and a person.”
“I’m excited for the opportunities that lie ahead and am forever grateful to have been a part of the UW football family for the past three years.”
O’Neill initially joined the Badgers as a preferred walk-on from St. Thomas Academy in Minnesota, being known for his speed as a 5’11, 165-pound receiver.
He had mainly only seen the field in a special teams capacity, while working out of the slot during offseason practices when incorporated in the offense.
He will now look for another opportunity, likely officially entering the transfer portal during the upcoming spring window.
