Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have demonstrated an ability to pluck brilliant but unknown players from the transfer portal and turn them into stars in recent years, and they want to do so again with their latest addition.
Bear Alexander, a former Georgia Bulldog and USC Trojans defensive lineman, revealed on Tuesday that he will transfer to Oregon for the 2025 season. After redshirting with the Trojans in 2024, Alexander will have two years of eligibility with the Ducks if he chooses to use them.
Alexander is a former high-end 4-star player who was ranked No. 50 overall when he committed to Georgia in the 2022 recruiting class. Alexander is ranked as the fourth best defensive lineman in the country by 247Sports.
Alexander, who is 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds and plays interior defensive line, definitely has potential and upside. While he hasn’t produced at the level that many expected early in his career, there is hope that Dan Lanning, Tosh Lupoi, and Tony Tuioti will be able to bring out the best in him, as they did with junior Derrick Harmon this year, who has risen up NFL draft boards and is expected to declare for the pros after one season at Oregon.
Alexander is the Ducks’ sixth portal addition this season.
