The Lakers great helped Team USA win another gold medal.
Team USA won another gold medal at the Olympics this summer, led by Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. James won his third gold medal, having previously competed for Team USA in 2008 and 2012. Following the Olympics, LeBron James went to get a fresh tattoo inspired by Team USA’s victory.
LeBron James’ new tattoo was on his arm and included the five rings that have come to represent the Olympic logo. With his most recent gold medal, James now has three gold medals, matching his long-time friend Carmelo Anthony. Both players were also part of the 2004 Team USA squad, which won bronze.
Although Team USA won, some claim that they would have struggled without the oldest member on the team. James was definitely the team leader, and his all-around play and aggression helped him win multiple games.
Over six games, James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists. He was selected tournament MVP after shooting 66 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from three points, and 73.3 percent from free throws.
As part of the opening ceremonies, the Lakers star was also chosen to carry the United States flag in the boat parade.

While many have speculated on how long James will play in the NBA, one thing is certain: he shows no symptoms of ageing. This offseason, James, who is approaching his 22nd season, agreed to a two-year contract with the Lakers.
The 39-year-old made significant contributions to NBA history over the last two seasons. In 2022-23, he became the league’s all-time leading scorer. In 2023-24, he became the first player in history to score 40,000 career points.
James appeared in 71 games for the Lakers, averaging little over 35 minutes per game. He averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 54% from the field, 41% from three points, and 75% from the free throw line. His three-point shooting % was a career high.
James will also create history this season by becoming the first father to play on the same team as his son. The Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th overall choice in the 2024 NBA Draft.
But the biggest question mark for the Lakers this season is if they are good enough to win a championship. There’s little doubt James wants to compete for a title, but the team’s roster may not be enough in an increasingly competitive Western Conference.
