The winter transfer portal window ended on Saturday, with defensive end DD Holmes leaving Florida State, according to a report on Sunday.

Holmes joins Patrick Payton, Byron Turner Jr., and Marvin Jones Jr. as the fourth defensive end to have his name listed in the winter cycle portal. This offseason, the Seminoles restructured their front seven defensive coaching staff, shifting DE coach John Papuchis to linebacker and giving Terrance Knighton exclusive control of the defensive front. Holmes’ size (6’6”, 250 lbs) appeared to pave the way for more playing time next season, but he is the second player in the class of 2024 to transfer, after Luke Kromenhoek.

While the window has closed, the offseason player shuffle isn’t over—requests are processed within 48 hours, so some names could still appear today. Furthermore, anyone still playing in the postseason (the remaining playoff teams of Boise State, Penn State, Arizona State, Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, and Notre Dame) will have a five-day window after the season finishes.

Players have until the start of spring classes to decide on their future destination, which for FSU is January 6, with the last day of drop/add being January 9.
