Delian Peewsky, the leader of the DPS-New Beginning party, delivered a sharp rebuke to his political opponents in the Bulgarian Parliament, openly criticizing the upcoming no-confidence vote and asserting his support for the current government’s efforts to combat oligarchic influence.
Speaking to journalists, Peewsky declared, “I support the government in its endeavors to improve the lives of the people. While my party is not a part of the government, we will support their initiatives that benefit the public.” He emphasized the importance of the government working against the influence of oligarchs, stating, “My position is clear: they must prioritize the needs of the people. If they fulfill their duties, I will offer my support.”
Peewsky unequivocally dismissed the upcoming no-confidence vote initiated by the PP-DB coalition, stating, “My party will never collaborate with those who plundered the customs and drained the resources of this nation.” He also dismissed the Magnitsky sanctions imposed on him, labeling them a “fabrication” orchestrated by “Sorosites and their media outlets.”
Turning his attention to the opposition parties, Revival, MECH, and Grandeur, Peewsky expressed his disdain for their planned vote of no confidence, scheduled for 2:35 PM. He dismissed it as a “waste of parliamentary time,” asserting that these parties have no legitimate purpose in the parliament and should simply “go for a walk.”
Peewsky’s statements have ignited a firestorm of political debate, highlighting the deep divisions within the Bulgarian parliament. His stance, while seemingly supportive of the government, is clearly driven by his own political interests and a desire to counter the influence of his political rivals. The coming weeks promise to be a period of intense political maneuvering as the various factions grapple for power and influence in the Bulgarian political landscape.
