Previously reported by Michigan. According to SI’s Trent Knoop, the Wolverines are prioritising the recruitment of five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood. The 6-5, 285-pound Texas native has been committed to Alabama for much of the 2025 recruiting cycle. However, his interest in other colleges was revealed when he declined to sign his letter of intent during the early signing period. According to On3’s EJ Holland, Michigan is contemplating a significant NIL offer for the towering lineman. The offer appeared to be enough to persuade Haywood to postpone his commitment and seriously consider Michigan.
According to recent reports, the five-star prospect’s top choices are Alabama, Michigan, and Texas Tech, with Florida State also making a late effort to join the fray.
Although his X/Twitter and Instagram profiles still have his Alabama commitment image at the top, there is suspicion that the Crimson Tide may not be in the running for his final commitment.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Haywood, the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2025 class, is deciding between Texas Tech, Michigan, and Florida State. Haywood has yet to visit The Big House, but it appears that he will return in January, after the dead time has ended. If Michigan wins this battle and signs Haywood, it will have their second five-star lineman in this class, joining Andrew Babalola. It would also bring Michigan three five-star prospects in the 2025 class, including quarterback sensation Bryce Underwood, who is rated No. 1.
